Tip#2: Things to think about when choosing a location (to avoid longer editing time)
Though many banquet halls are designed to look beautiful and are quite stunning, they unfortunately were not designed with a photographer's needs in mind.
Beware of ceilings that are too high or low to bounce flash properly. This will cause your photos to be too dark and grainy or over flashed. This is also the case for rooms that are too large.
Ceilings that have beams, arches, or low-hanging chandeliers will throw nasty shadows in the background of all the photos.
Bridal rooms or banquet rooms that are painted red, mauve, bright yellow or orange will reflect these non-natural colors onto the skin making photos unflattering.
Note about rooms with a lot of windows or mirrors: anytime the photographer has to shoot towards glass you will have the reflection of the flash and the photographer in the photo. Also, shooting towards windows with bright light coming through will cause lens flares. The people will look too dark and the background too bright. |
